More Than 40% of the Electorate is a Force to be Reckoned with
This isn’t going to be a long rambling post. I’m fully pro-EU- not neccesarily how they, as our elected body, deal with things… But I’m firmly of the belief we can only solve the problems of our country, our continent and the rest of the world by working within the EU. By leaving, the UK is just outsourcing their problems.
Maybe that utopian naivety is returning from my student days. But wouldn’t it be great if the left finally put aside its differences and formed a pro-EU party… or at least a pro-EU coalition? Imagine if every pro-EU MP irrespective of party joined together in their own, separate, entity? That would create a party that already has the support of roughly 40% of the electorate (ignoring people who have changed their mind since then), which is more support than even our current government has. Of course, the EU is anything but solely for the left to support about… It is a stance that crosses the political divide.
It is equally true an anti-EU coalition would have more support under those figures. And good on them, I say. Maybe we can have an election that finally has an honest debate about the EU rather than a referendum pumped with lies.
But that’s me being Utopian again.
