Sometimes it can feel lonely enough I in a relatively rural area with strong minded, socially aware views. It can be very demoralising; and even more so being liberal minded and majorly disliking Julian Assange.
Maybe it was the personality cult that he was trying to build around him, or maybe it was the self-gratifying picture of himself sitting like a leader that was on the front of the Wikileaks site for ages.
Or maybe he shouldn't have committed sex crimes in the first place; his defence team doesn't deny his behaviour may have been misleading and illegal under Swedish law, but is setting down the claim that he is now in the UK, where the crimes are judged differently.
It is the people like Snowden and Chelsea Manning we should be supporting. Those who are actually whistle-blowing and actually doing the hard work. Not Assange, who is nothing more than a glorified admin assistant.
I was therefore relieved to see that I am not the only one that sees the situation differently, as can be seen in the following blog!

My favourite lines:
"If this doesn’t disturb supporters of Assange, then it should. Julian Assange has, through his defence team at his extradition hearing, admitted that he committed rape under Swedish law. So, despite the accounts of the survivors, despite the admissions of Assange’s own defence team at his extradition hearing, why do people continue to support this vile man? Why has a cult been built around him? And why do people on the left continue to give vile bastards like this a platform?
Despite all the accounts, despite the behaviour of these people and their obvious disregard for the opinions and the safety of the women who challenge them, horrible fuckers like this are still allowed into our spaces. And it’s got to stop right now."
